In its natural form as well-developed crystals, spinel is frequently found in igneous rocks but also in metamorphic rocks such as marble in the form of octahedral crystals, rarely as twin crystals.
It can also be found in gravel (sedimentary rocks). The best known geographical regions where the mineral was found are Sri Lanka, Myanmar or Pakistan.
Spinels appear in an extensive range of colors and shades of colors. They are appreciated for their resistance and intense color.
